Aggie Burnett: The Serial Entrepreneur Leading the Way for Beauty Founders

Who do you serve and why?

I serve beauty brand founders from the emerging stage through 8 figures. I serve this audience because f my 16 years of experience in the beauty industry starting as an editor at Glamour Magazine and also because I started and grew a successful beauty brand myself so I’ve been through all the trials, tribulations, and wins. I know the ins and outs of what this founder goes through in building/growing/scaling their business.

How long have you been in business?

Depends on which business! With ABC it’s been 5 years (started in 2017, the same year my older son was born).

What were you doing before you started this business?

I was the CEO of Nomaterra Fragrances, 2011 – 2022 (it’s a little complicated but essentially I pivoted into consulting full time in 2018. I tried to sell Nomaterra and we actually had interest for our IP however due to a trademark situation we were not ultimately successful in selling the business.

How & why did you start this business?

I started ABC because at the time there was nobody offering mentorship in an industry that prided itself of trade secrets. I wanted to democratize the industry and make it accessible for anybody to start and grow their beauty brand the right way, knowing the “know-how” of the trade.

The most pivotal moment in my business was…

For ABC probably when I launched my signature group program, Conventional to Cult Status. It was incredible to be able to take a framework I was using with my clients successfully one-on-one and prove its success in a group environment. For Nomaterra, definitely when we got into Sephora.

If there’s anything you could change in your story, what would it be and why?

Nothing. It’s all part of the journey, baby. Learned so much and continue to learn. Growth is my number #1 value so as long as I’m learning I’m growing.

What has been the most fulfilling part of your entrepreneurial journey?

Helping others along the way whether it’s helping them find their signature scent (we still have people emailing us regularly asking about their favorite Nomaterra scent). ABC has been incredibly fulfilling, seeing women step into their power and ownership as CEO’s, as businesswomen not just hobbyist and helping them lean into their authentic selves as they build their business has been sobeautiful to watch.

What has been the most challenging part of your entrepreneurial journey?

Wanting to do alllll the things and not having enough time or womanpower to do them all at once!!
