As entrepreneurs, we suffer from imposter syndrome on a regular basis.
I hate to say it, but there is no way to avoid imposter syndrome. At every level in business, there’s a new mindset mountain we have to climb.
One mountain that I can’t seem to escape since I’ve started is the feeling of lack.
As we tackle the online space, we tend to doubt ourselves and second guess our paths almost at every moment. There may not be a permanent escape, but there are amazing tools to help you ignore your inner critic.
In this article, we’ll go over 5 of those tools.
The Dunning-Kruger Effect is the comparison of the highs and lows of the horizontal end of the graph being your confidence and the lateral being your knowledge of, in this case, business. The overall idea is that the longer you have been working on and in your business, the more knowledge have. And sometimes, more knowledge doesn’t necessarily mean “easier”. And in the case of the Dunning-Kruger Effect, more knowledge = overwhelm = imposter syndrome.
Here’s an example: Daniella started her business in 2020. She has very high confidence, she’s excited… but her knowledge level is low. In late 2020, she has more experience, more knowledge and is more aware of what she needs to do to reach her business goals. As a result, she may feel stuck for some time because the amount of knowledge becomes overwhelming.
And what happens is, it could make you feel like an imposter because you may be looking at the mountain and wonder how you can get up and over it…
As a result, when you are experiencing Imposter Syndrome, your confidence tends to be low even though you may have more knowledge and have been in the business for some time now. Once you get over this idea then you will see your confidence grow.
Ignoring your inner critic is a practice. But it’s essential.
It can often be overwhelming as you are in your business and you think of all the things you need to do such as a strong marketing strategy or a mailing list, and your confidence will start to decrease when you become overwhelmed.
Ignoring your inner critic is a practice. But it’s essential. And when it’s mastered, you’ll be able to recognize the mountain, climb it and do it all over again.
